The case aims at highlighting the challenges and accomplishments of the USBRL project by the Northern Indian Railways. The northern general manager is bound and accountable with a task of making the lucidity of challenges and accomplishments regarding the USBRL project in order to conclude the project success or failure, even a forecast for the future investments. The case systematically defines and elaborates the Northern Indian Railways, Kashmir valley, a brief profile of USBRL project and categorises the work executions. The two mega sub-projects Pir-Panjal tunnel and Chenab Railway Bridge are detailed. Further, the scope of the USBRL project for Socio-economic development is also mentioned.
